Weave
The seating collection explores the enduring relationship between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary furniture design. Originally conceived following visits to specialist furniture workshops in Vietnam, the collection draws on the time-honoured techniques of heating and hand-bending bamboo to create elegant, lightweight frames. Each prototype was finished with woven rattan or natural grass, meticulously crafted by local artisans using generations-old weaving techniques.
The original bamboo prototype was featured in Design Quarterly (DQ) Magazine, recognising its contemporary interpretation of traditional craftsmanship and considered use of natural materials. Since then, the collection has been thoughtfully revisited and refined, preserving the integrity of the original design while evolving its material palette and construction. Alongside bamboo and rattan, the seating is now being developed with precision-crafted aluminum frames for outdoor use, hand-finished with artisan-braided and woven coverings in a palette of natural, tactile finishes.
Defined by sculptural simplicity and meticulous detailing, the collection unites heritage craftsmanship with contemporary manufacturing, resulting in furniture that expresses clarity of form, honest materiality and exceptional artisanal skill. Each piece reflects a considered balance of innovation and tradition, where refined construction and the enduring beauty of handcraft remain at the heart of the design.
